eugenics: maybe not so bad?

Even with Bill Gates secretly trying to kill us all, eugenics isn't as hot a topic today as it was back before WW2, mainly because of the events of WW2.  Hitler's attempt to create a perfect race might have utilized dubious methodology, but was his goal sound?  Personally, I don't think so.  As we all know, diversity makes the world go round.  "The cause of and solution to all of life's problems," as Homer might say.  Well, let's take a trip back in time and share one of the funnier moments of the history of eugenics.

It starts in 1924 when Virginia passed its Eugenical Sterilization Act which targeted "socially inadequate offspring."  Now that the stage is set, let's move on to Carrie Buck, from Lynchburg.  Poor Carrie got pregnant as a teenager and then what happened?  The U.S. Supreme Court upheld forced sterilization!  In 1927, Chief Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. assessed Buck, her mother and her daughter, then declared, "three generations of imbeciles are enough!"

Now that's justice!  Thank you, Oliver Wendell Holmes for making sure that the Bucks stopped there.
